The 3-Day Albanian Alps Classic Loop

Day trip from Shkoder 42.10°N · 19.56°E
A short, easy trip close to Shkodër: swim in the Kir River's limestone pools, then walk across Albania's longest surviving Ottoman stone bridge.
How the day runs
We leave Shkodër in the early afternoon for a short, twenty-minute drive northeast into the Kir River valley.
The Kir River has cut deep, green pools into the limestone. Spend the afternoon swimming, jumping off the rocks, or just sitting in the sun.
On the way back, we stop at the Mesi Bridge (Ura e Mesit). Built in 1768 for Kara Mahmud Bushati, it's 108 meters long with thirteen uneven stone arches, and it photographs well in the late-afternoon light.
We're back in the city by early evening, with time left for dinner or a walk along the Buna River.
